STRUCTURAL CHALLENGES
- Existing perimeter building shear walls needed to be removed to expand and open the space to function.
- BIM was used as a key tool to model existing wood trusses and route utilities.
- Clash Detection and interferences were closely looked at for a smooth construction phase.
EDS provided all Building Information Modeling (BIM) for key structural elements for a very complex structural engineering design upgrade and renovation of 10,000-sft building with a significant expansion. Existing load-bearing shear walls were removed to open the space. The structural design to comply with met US FDA and EU GMPs for the commercial manufacture of biologic drug substance. BMBL guidelines for BSL2 and BSL3 Bio-containment Building were followed.
